Williams sisters gone after 3

Published by poopy head under Sports, Tennis Edit This

Roland Garros

Venus Williams

Serena Williams

Both American sisters Venus Williams (seeded 8th) and Serena Williams (seeded 5th) made their exits yesterday in the third round of the Roland Garros 2008 French Open . It is not that it is so surprising that they lost in the third round as much as it is so surprising that they both lost in straight sets to the 26th and 27th seed respectively. One has to wonder if one losing affects the others play. If you want to see the playes overview, just click on their respective pictures.

With the departure of these two greats of the game, it definitely makes the task a little bit easier now for number 1 seeded Russian Maria Sharapova to walk away with another trophy for her case.

Who came out better on the Andruw Jones Departure?

mark KotsayAndruw JonesWhat a season Mark Kotsay has put up so far. And what a terrible start Andruw Jones is going through. Currently, Andruw is sitting on the pine riding the Disable list. In the next few days, the braves fans will know if Mark Kotsay will in fact see the same fate with a bad back.

What is bad with the whole trade is it looks like both teams will currently be doing without the center fields for a while. And even if Andruw comes back, I would have to say the nod goes to the Atlanta Braves. And if for some reason they can not get Mark back, they have the luxury of finding out that Gregor Blanco is an outstanding center fielder in his own right and he is ready to step up to the plate.

Braves Attempt to sweep Mets tonight.

The Atlanta Braves position themselves to make the series finale a barn burner as the New York Mets send Johan Santana to the mound to see if he can cool off the red hot bats of the Braves. Standing ready to do battle against the Mets bats is one of Atlanta’s finest in Tim Hudson. Now, if I was a betting man, I would have to say the the Braves send the Mets off licking their wounds tonight. And you can bet that Turner Field will be rocking tonight.
