Immortalized in Time
For as long as I can remember, the one achievement that every ball player ever wanted was to be immortalized in time. In football, it is all about making it to Canton, Ohio where since 1920 the Pro Football Hall of Fame has been inducting new members. For baseball, it is all about making it to Cooperstown, New York to the National Baseball Hall of Fame to see your jersey hang in a window. Or maybe you get there because you were involved in a great play that went down in history. As for basketball, they too have their Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
It does not stop there though. The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame lives right here in Knoxville Tennessee. Yesterday, my team member , Rich Dansereau , wrote a post concerning the upcoming induction on June 14th here in Knoxville. I recommend that you read this piece as I will not still his thunder. It is a great article. It continues with other sports just s well, but I think that you get my point.
Once these people are inducted into one of these shrines, they are truly immortalized in time. Football can look back on the likes of Jim Thorpe, Art Rooney, Merlin Olsen, or Gene Upshaw just to name a few. Baseball has the luxury of stars like Hank Aaron, Johnny Evers, Judy Johnson, or Sparky Anderson to name a few. In Basketball, you can see greats like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Denzil (Denny) E. Crum, or Jerry A. West. With Women’s Basketball, it is no different as one can see greats in this sport since 1999. So, take the time and check this out.

Rich, that they do. I hope that people visit these places in their life times as they truly are a great place.
