Another football player gone bad?

Published by poopy head at 12:56 pm under Football, Pro Football, Sports Edit This

When will professional sports players realize that they are not above the law? When will they realize that what they do is magnified 1000 times over because of the players before them? When will they realize that they need to walk a fine line?

Yet again, another player is arrested on drug charges. This time it is wide receiver Matt Jones of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jones faces a felony drug charge in his former college town where he was caught cutting up cocaine with a credit card on Thursday morning @ 12:40 AM according to the police report.

Now, it is bad enough that Jones got busted. With that said, in my opinion only, it stinks that the Jacksonville Jaguars and the NFL can say no more than that they are investigating the charges? What is that really suppose to mean? I think it is this simple. Suspend him until he is cleared of charges.

I think that it is time for the NFL to stand up and send a message to the players. It needs to be firm and it needs to be specific. If you are arrested for a felony of any kind you will be automatically suspended until you are cleared. And for the habitual violators of the DUI laws, after the second time, they should also face suspension.

Now, I understand that some of you might think that this is harsh. For those readers that have followed me for a while, you know what I stand for. These people are suppose to be the role models to our children. What does it say to our children when the guys get off with a slap on the wrist?
