Peyton is out for four to six weeks
Peyton Manning underwent surgery on Monday on his left knee. The surgery was to remove an infected bursa sack that he had been receiving treatment for since February 2008 from. This was after consultation with the Colts medical staff. This is generally cause in people or athletes where there is a lot of friction between the skin and the knee cap that becomes inflamed. Generally it becomes inflamed and can be treated by draining it. He could possibly miss the teams season opener against the Chicago Bears on September the 7th. It is unlikely that he will miss more than that and is likely that could make that game.
The 32 year old quarterback has started 16 regular season games a year for the last 10 years. This is a little more motivation to push him to get rehabbed quicker to make it 11 consecutive years. He is currently on the longest streak in the NFL as long as Brett Farve stays retired.
