Hey, I need a left fielder.

This seems to be the cry for almost all the teams in contention at this point and time. And even if it is not, with the names like Matt Holliday of the Rockies, Jason Bay and Xavier Nady of the Pirates, Adam Dunn of the Reds, David DeJesus of the Royals, David Roberts of the Giants, Raul Ibanez of the Mariners, Casey Blake and David Delluci of the Indians, Jay Payton of the Orioles, Juan Rivera of the Angels, Chris Duncan of the Cardinals, and even Kenny Lofton who is a free agent, GMs from all around are salivating to get there hands on some of these names.

  • Matt Holliday, Rockies. Price looks to be way to high, but you never know.
  • Jason Bay, Pirates.  Bay is killing it right now and his value is rising. Question  is, do the Pirates want to give him the extension and maybe build around him or trade him and get more out of him.
  • Adam Dunn, Reds.  Let’s be harsh for a moment shall we. This guy stinks in the field. If he could play first, great. With that said, the AL should be drooling for this guy as a DH.
  • Xavier Nady, Pirates.  Nady is generally a right fielder, but he can play left.  Teams will make adjustments in need be to play him where they need to for the best of the team.
  • David DeJesus, Royals.  he is 28 years old, got a lot left in him, but the Royals need more, so trading him might be what they need to get what they want.
  • Raul Ibanez, Mariners.  The Mariners are hurting. Trading Raul could be the ticket that they are looking for.
  • Casey Blake, Indians.  Blake looks like his bags are packed and he is just waiting to know where he will land. My bet is in the National League. Quick bat and good glove give him some leverage.
  • Chris Duncan, Cardinals.  Duncan’s power disappeared sometime around August of last year.  At best he would be a bench player for someone, but not a bad option.
  • Juan Rivera, Angels.  At the time, a lot of people think that he will not be traded, but I think they will leverage him for pitching.
  • David Dellucci, Indians.  he is a choice but in my books, a last choice. Once again off the bench is it.
  • Jay Payton, Orioles.  Payton has been lousy and seems like a DFA candidate.
  • Dave Roberts, Giants.  Dave is a great player that has the veteran experience. With no room on the Giants, I can see him coming to the East coast.
  • Kenny Lofton, free agent. Atlanta was once called home to him and the need for a speedy lead off bat might just be what the doctor ordered.
