The Perfect Season? Not so for New England
So many made the case that New England had the perfect season in 2007. For me, that is not possible. New England got beat on the field once, but when the game was over, they won it on the scoreboard. Of course that might be one of the reasons that the Baltimore Ravens have a new coach. Here is the game in question for those that do not remember.
As you can see, if the time out was not called, it would have been history. But, we can not live on “would haves”.Of course, that is a two way street as the perfect season requires that you finish it as a Champion. The 1972 Dolphins could not do it and now the 2007 new England Patriots could not either. What is surprising to both seasons in the team that beat them both in the Championship games. For those who do not know, it was the Giants. last year, I predicted the Superbowl upset and was basically told that I was crazy. With respect to last year, that is old news.
Now, for the 2008 season. It is time to put the pads on and do what these guys do. I have to say this about this team. There is few weak spots in their armor. The lines on defense and offense are solid and hit the blocks 99.6% of the time. They have one of the best Quarterbacks in the game in Tom Brady who get to throw the ball to great receivers like Randy Moss or Wes Welker. And he is joined in the backfield with one of the greatest runners in Laurence Maroney. So, say what you want, these guys are tough on offense.
And if you think that they can be had on defense, then you have not met Tedy Bruschi or Mike Vrabel. A quick introduction can be arranged if you come through the middle. If you decide to go outside, you can meet up with the likes of Ellis Hobbs III or Rodney Harrison if you like. All in all this is a team that had a Net point differential of 315. In comparison that is 127 more points than the second closest. That was the Colts at 188.

Though I am not a fan of the Patriots, they are a team to be reckoned with. Any team that feels they can overlook them is just plain stupid!
Rich, I have to agree.
I do not see any reason why they will not be a strong team again this year. And I am sure they would take 1, 2, or 3 losses during the regular season…..to win another championship.

Yeah, I am sure that they would give up the “perfect regular season”
Danny, you know I’m biased toward the Patriots but they did get the break with that time out. Even with losing players I think they’ll be a force to be reckoned with too.
Debbie, they are always a force to reckon with.
