Tampa Bay Rays: 2008 World Series Champions

Published by poopy head at 7:37 pm under Baseball, Professional Baseball, Sports Edit This

Today, the Tampa Bay Rays have accomplished a 11 year dream. They have just completed a 4 game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies to clinch the 2008 World Series Championship.

The above is the headlines that the Rays are hoping to see in a short period of time. With the way that they have played this year, it is truly possible that it will transpire. Tonight, they are given the opportunity to take one step closer as they take on the Boston Red Sox in Fenway Park. First pitch is scheduled for 8:07.

As for tonight’s game, I truly would like to see the Rays loose and have to play this weekend at their home field of Tropicana Field. It would be fitting to win in front of a St Petersburg  crowd. With that said, I do not see that happening. Tonight, the 2008 season will come to an end. The starting pitchers as juiced and ready to make their run for their teams. Dice-K was almost unhittable in his first appearance while Scott Kazmir was shaky at best. Tonight, I see it being just the opposite.

Emotions will be running high for both teams. One is looking at elimination. One is looking to move into stardom. And a Nation looks on to see if Cinderella can make it to the ball with her glass slipper. Well, when Cinderella is BJ Upton, Carl Crawford, Evan Longoria, Carlos Pena, and Willie Aybar to just name a few, she will do just fine.
