Who will be number 1?

Published by poopy head at 11:59 am under College Football, Football, Sports Edit This

The BCS got sent for another spin last night as the Texas Tech Red Raiders upset the number 1 ranked Texas Longhorns. With that win, I personally think that the Red Raiders should sit atop the rankings. However, with Alabama being number 2 and winning, they will probably hit in the number 1 spot. Bottom line with the rankings though is the fact that they have teams with losses ranked higher than teams that are currently undefeated.

I know the first thing that someone will say is it breaks down to the scheduling. You have to take into account the teams that they have played. Well, frankly I think that is horse shit. Just my personal opinion. I believe that if a team is undefeated, they deserve a higher ranking. If they get their ass handed to them in a bowl game, then they have embarrassed themselves and their school. In a nutshell, they will hurt their own recruiting.

This in itself gives more reasoning why there should be a playoff schedule set up at the end of the year. If you take all of the bowl games and Post Season football and total all the games, I truly believe that a 64 team playoff field would have no more games. Just for those who wonder, there is a total of 63 games played in a 64 team bracket if it is head to head and no byes given. Another way to do it would be invite all the conference winners and let them square off. Then you get down to the fact who cares about going undefeated. It is more about winning the conference to get yourself in the playoffs.

Bottom line, the polls and the BCS is upside down as of right now.

Personally, I am an Auburn fan so I really hoped Alabama would be hedged out of #1 this year, but my team hasn’t been on their game all season so I really don’t have any room to talk!

There’s no doubt that college football is the only (American) football worth watching anymore.
