Tennessee Vols Inconsistent
Head coach Philip Fulmer has announced that in his determination the demise to his team is the Tennessee Vols inconsistent play. Yes, you heard it correct. The University of Tennessee Volunteers Head Coach Philip Fulmer wants the fans to buy this
assessment so that he can keep his job.
Well, frankly Philip, we all knew this already. This is what you are paid for.
After a short practice session on Sunday, Fulmer stated “Inconsistencies at quarterback are a primary area of concern. Our defense actually played well. We gave up one drive, about five plays where they dinked it around and made some plays. Really, they didn’t get much else the entire evening. Offensively, it’s inconsistency. It’s not just the quarterback, but that’s a bad place to have inconsistency.”
This is what I do not understand though. If the defense played well, then why did South Carolina put 27 points on the board against the Vols. To me, that is not good defensive play. The Gamecocks scored in each and every quarter. Their offense held the ball for 5 more minutes than yours did. They gained 48 more total yards than UT did. And, to me, maybe the worst stat, they converted on a 4th down.
From where the fans sit, it looks more like inconsistent coaching is the MAIN issue here. Now, I am sure that the University of Tennessee will leave Fulmer in place, especially since this weekends game is against Wyoming. This will be homecoming for the Volunteers and I would expect that the Vols would run wild on the Cowboys. With that said, I can now see an upset brewing as both of these teams have identical records. Time will tell for us all.

ESPN.com is reporting that Fulmer is gone, effective after the season.
