Atlanta Braves dig Lowe down and score

Published by poopy head at 3:56 pm under Baseball, Professional Baseball, Sports Edit This

From all indications, it looks like the Atlanta Braves have scored a pitching ace that they can use. Derek Lowe looks like he is set to take the mound for the Braves this spring with a 4 year deal worth a reported 60 million dollars hanging out his back pocket.

Frankly, I, being an avid Braves fan, am happy to hear this news. I can see the Braves running out 4 quality .500+ winners this season. Joining Lowe in the rotation will be Jair Jurrjens, Javier Vazquez (acquired from the White Sox in the off season), and Kenshin Kawakami (recently signed from the Central Japan League). The fifth spot will be up in the air with Tom Glavine, James Parr, Jorge Campillo, Jo-Jo Reyes and Charlie Morton all competing for it. Now, if it were me, Campillo would be my guy and Charlie would go back to the minors. Jo-Jo would be middle relief and would Tommy. I am not taking anything away from either of those guys, but I think that Campillo can bring in a solid .5oo season.

With all the new additions in the pitching ranks, one wonders what the Braves on going to do offensively as they still need a big stick to next between Chipper and Brian McCann. As the season draws closer, the speculations will definitely be bountiful.
