A Dream Come True

Published by poopy head under Basektball, Sports Edit This

I have been associated with sports for as long as I can remember. However, for that span of 35+ years, I do not believe that I have ever witnessed a story like the one that is presented in this video. This video goes to show you that just because a person is not considered “normal” or is tagged a “special needs” person does not mean that they can not contribute. After watching this video, I am wondering if this coach would have loved to have this player on the floor the entire season as opposed to on the bench. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Lady Vols Fighting Uphill Battle

Published by poopy head under Basektball, Sports Edit This

If you follow women’s college basketball, then you know that the Lady Vols from the University of Tennessee have been a powerhouse for years. Under the guidance of Pat Summitt, they have won the last two titles and are wanting to make it a third. If they are going to do that this year, they will have to accomplish it with just one senior. The squad this year is made up of all freshman and sophomores to accompany the one senior player. However, that has yet to effect these women. Currently they sit with a 7-2 record.

With that said, it is that 7-2 record that has got them with their backs to the wall. This seems to be a familiar place for these young ladies and it really does not seem to phase them. The last time they lost, they came back and rattled off six straight wins with an average point spread of 21 points. The lowest of these spreads was just 3 points against University of Tennessee @ Chattanooga and 35 points against Louisiana Tech.  Today, they got their second loss on the season. I sure would hate to be the next six teams that have to step on the court with this women.

As it sits right now, there is a lot of undefeated teams in the league. Tennessee actually has the ability to control their future. These Lady Vols are as tough as any team I have seen over the years. I will be interested to see how they do.

Snaer Picks FSU

Published by poopy head under Basektball, Sports Edit This

Today, Michael Snaer made it official that he will be a Florida State University Seminole. The 6 foot 4 inch 185 pound shooting guard seemed happy with making the selection and so did the Seminoles coach. Acquiring the 11th ranked michael-snaer.jpgSnaer over schools like UCLA, Kansas, Marquette and Missouri is impressive in and of itself. But, when you add in 6 foot 7 inch 190 pound power forward Terrance Shannon to the picture, it looks even sweeter.

Inking one of these players out of The Rivals 150 is huge in itself. Being able to get 2 of them to sign a letter of intent is awesome for Florida State and the Seminole Nation. The great news is, it does not look like the ‘Noles are not done yet as there are some remaining talent left in the 150 that still list the ACC school as a potential choice. Players have until November 19th at midnight to pick the school of intent.
